American Heart Association’s District Heart Challenge

Our district is proud to participate in the American Heart Association’s District Heart Challenge! We want to inspire all staff to be active and learn how to keep our hearts healthy. By partnering with the American Heart Association, we will raise awareness and help fight heart disease and stroke!

On Friday, February 16th, we will wear our commemorative AHA T-shirt to support the mission of the American Heart Association – to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives. We also have monthly emails on a variety of health topics to help you learn simple ways you can make big changes with your health.

We will be asking EVERYONE in our district who receives the AHA t-shirt to Wear Your Shirt on Friday, February 16th!

Please note:

  • Shirts must be purchased by Monday, January 29th to receive them in time for our AHA awareness day.

Building Healthy Communities works to create supportive school environments through healthy eating and physical activity.

We have three programs: The Step Up for School Wellness Program, the Elementary School Program and the Middle School Program. Read more about these programs in our program fact sheet.

The 2024-2025 Application Period will open in the Spring of 2024.

    School Grants for Healthy Kids

Ready, set, apply for a school grant! Do your kids or students get at least 60 minutes of physical activity daily? Are they learning about and eating nutritious foods at school? Do they have time to take breaks, practice mindfulness, and explore their imaginations? If your school could use more opportunities to engage kids in healthy behaviors, then check out our school grants! Parents and school staff can apply for a school grant to improve kids' health and well-being, which helps them learn, succeed, and thrive.
