Michigan Fun Facts and History - Grades 5-9

Have fun while learning about the state that you live in. Topics will include agriculture, industry, parks, recreation, famous Michiganians, Michigan firsts, and Michigan products.

RISE AND SHINE! - Grades 4-7

Healthy mind, healthy body, healthy connections! Students will connect with staff and their peers in a fun outdoor environment. Meetings will begin with a trust circle and students will be lead through mindfulness activities and stretches. Students will engage in team-building activities and walking during the session. The session will close with snack and socialization/reflection.

Rocketry - Grades 3-5

Student will have fun constructing, painting, and launching rockets. Students will learn basic geometry, angles, measurement, fractions, aerodynamics, and of course flight. Model rocketry is a powerful tool for students to incorporate science, technology, engineering, and math into a fun engaging and challenging activity.

Sing & Dance Parking Lot Play Party - Grades 5 & 6

Come learn to sing and dance the "play parties" of the pioneers. We’ll sing the songs we dance to—just like the pioneers of old! Some of these play parties are more like games than dances. Maybe that’s why they’re called “play” parties!

Social-Emotional Learning/SEL - Grades 5 -7

This class is designed to introduce students to social-emotional learning. The main focus of the class will be to give students needed support and instruction this summer to prepare them for the transition to the next school year. Skills like recognizing and managing emotions, being a good friend, controlling impulses, communicating effectively, and working well with others will be the programs objectives.

Kindness Matters - Grades 1-5

1st-5th graders are welcome to join a 4 day class focused on building character and spreading kindness. Daily stories, discussions, activities and other suggested follow up at home activities will help students to start thinking about the small ways we all can make a positive difference in our family, community and beyond.

Fun With Words and Mrs. Warchol - Grades 2-4

Students will explore their creative side as we learn about poetry. They will read and analyze some samples, discussing elements and purpose. Attendees will also have the opportunity to write and share several of their own creation, using various formats.

Blast off with Reading - Grades K&1

Blast off into summer with a week of fun filled space activities. Each day we will read a book about space while focusing on reading skills important for all kindergarten and first grade learners. We will then complete a space activity that goes with each book officially making the students a young astronaut in training!

Writer's Notebook - For the Love of Writing - Grades 4-8

A writer's notebook is a place to store thoughts, ideas and experiences. This class offers simple strategies for kids to write for the pleasure writing. This type of writer's notebook is not graded, but a place that is special to nurture the creativity of writing.

Healthy Kids Club - Grades 3-5

The focus of this class would be providing options and awareness to students about the resources of nutrition, breath, and movement. Basic nutrition such as learning the USDA Plate and reading labels.
