Wilkerson Elementary boasts a dedicated and caring staff.  From classroom teachers to custodians, each member plays an important role in helping every child reach their full potential.

bulletKeith Karpinski-Principal.  I am celebrating my 12th year as Principal here at Wilkerson!  My wife Marilyn and I have been married for 19 years and we have two daughters.  My oldest is a junior in high school and my youngest daughter enters 9th grade. I graduated from Pennsylvania State University in1989.  While there, I earned a degree in Health education and I earned my masters’ degree from University of Detroit/ Mercy .  I spent one year (1989) playing professional football with the Detroit Lions but that has become a distant memory   I spend most of my time car pooling to ice hockey, volleyball, basketball, soccer, baseball and Polish Dance but I enjoy every minute of it.  I enjoy reading historical fiction novels, hunting, watching Penn State Football , spending time at our cottage near Alpena MI, and being a DAD.

 

bulletLindsay Arnold-Kindergarten Teacher.  This is my 11th year teaching kindergarten here at Wilkerson. I earned my bachelor's degree from Western Michigan and my master's degree from Saginaw Valley. My husband Fred and I have been married for 9 years and we have three children. Harrison is 6 years old, Carys is 3 and Cullen will be one in November. In my free time I enjoy reading, bike riding and camping with my family.

bulletChristina Chirco-Second Grade Teacher.  I am excited to begin my third year at Wilkerson Elementary teaching second grade. In addition to my bachelors in elementary education, this past year I completed my Masters degree in Reading and Literacy. During my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, walking my dog Harley, reading, and traveling. I look forward to a great school year at Wilkerson!

 

bulletKimberly Choike- Kindergarten Teacher.  I  am very excited to be teaching kindergarten for the 8th year at Wilkerson.  I feel very fortunate to be part of the Wilkerson family.  I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Western Michigan and my Master's Degree from Saginaw Valley State.  I married my husband, Ed, in August 2005 and we have two children that keep us very busy.   My son, Jackson was born in December 2006 and my daughter, Ella was born in October 2009.     When I am not at Wilkerson, I enjoy playing outside with my kids, reading, playing games and spending time with my family.

bullet Anne Copp-First Grade Teacher.  I am thrilled to be teaching first grade this year! I taught first grade at Wilkerson for 6 years and then took a leave of absence for one year. Now, I am back at Wilkerson and ready for a great year! My husband Tony and I have a 4 1/2 year old son named Carmine-and he is a character!

bulletRebecca Eubank-First Grade Teacher.  I am entering my fourth year in Warren Consolidated Schools, and my first year at Wilkerson.  I am quickly finding out what a great school it is!  I graduated from Wayne State University with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a major in math.  Currently I am working on my master's degree at Oakland University in Reading and Language Arts.

 

bulletRachel Evans- ELA teacher.   I am so excited to be teaching at Wilkerson and Cromie Elementary schools. This is my 1st year with Warren Consolidated Schools, but this is my 10th year as a teacher. I taught 5 years in Georgia, 3 years in Virginia and 1 year at L'Anse Creuse. I have a Bachelor's degree in Communications and Spanish and my Master's degree in Elementary Education and ESL. My husband is from Michigan and I have (2) children, ages 7 and 11. We are enjoying Michigan's breath-taking four seasons!

I am fortunate enough to say that this is my fifth year teaching at Wilkerson.  I graduated from Wayne State University. After getting my job, I enrolled at Saginaw Valley State University and completed my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership with a concentration on Principalship. I have been married to my amazing husband, Kelain, for 4 years .  We have two beautiful daughters, Kailey, who is two years old, and Olivia, who is 8 months old.  They are the light of our lives! All of our time is centered around the girls and doing family activities.

bulletHeidi Johannes- Resource Room  This is my 12th year teaching special education in Warren Consolidated.  I earned my Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Science from Wayne State University and my Masters Degree in Special Education with an endorsement in Learning Disabilities from the University of Michigan-Dearborn.  I am married and have a four year old daughter.  We love spending time together as a family and traveling.

bulletKaryn Kechechian- Art.  I have always enjoyed using creativity for my artistic endeavors. I have always felt that art was an important role in my life and chose it to be a part of my career.  I obtained a degree in Art Education from Wayne State University.  My personal areas of interest are jewelry making and computer graphics.  I enjoy looking at a variety of art and artists.  Some of them are Monet, Van Gogh, and Matisse.

bulletMelissa Mulka- Third Grade Teacher.  This is my fifth year teaching at Wilkerson. In that time I have taught kindergarten and second grade. I prepared for my teaching at Adrian College where I earned my Bachelor of Arts (with a triple minor in political science, earth science, and elementary education). In July of 2005, I married my best friend, Anthony. I earned my Masters in the Art of Teaching from Marygrove College in May of 2006. In my spare time, I enjoy walking at Dodge Park, reading, and spending time with my family and friends. I feel blessed to have the opportunity to work with such a fantastic staff and school family.

 

bulletSandy Newell- Fourth Grade Teacher.  I started at Wilkerson in 1998.  I graduated from Penn State University and before moving to Michigan, taught in Pennsylvania and Virginia. I also have a Master's Degree from Saginaw Valley State University.   I have been married for 18  years and have a nine-year-old son, Christopher, and a seven-year-old daughter, Riley.  When I'm not spending time with the kids,  I like to read, go bike riding, roller skate and do crafts. My husband and I also like to sail on our boat, Adagio.

 

bulletVal Puffer- Fifth Grade Teacher.  I started in the district as an elementary Spanish teacher eight years ago. After teaching Spanish for four years I came to Wilkerson as a classroom teacher. I attended Anderson University where I earned my Bachelor degree and Wayne State University where I earned my Masters Degree. This is my 13th year as an Elementary counselor in Warren Consolidated School. I live with
my husband David, who recently retired from DiamlerChrysler 19 months ago. We are the  proud parents of two young adults. Our son, Donovan Ross, is a Corporate Tax Accountant with JetBlue Airlines in New York City..  When he returned home from college, he often referred to us as his roommates before moving to Astoria, New York.. Our Daughter, Maria Ross Estrada, and her husband Daniel live in Manassas, Virginia with my grandpets two Lop bunnies Sundae and Franklin and a tortoise Apollo. She is a Veterinarian at Ashburn Village Animal Hospital and her specialty is exotic animals. My hobbies include ballroom , Maringá, and salsa dancing with my spouse. I have been a member of a literary club for 15 years, which I enjoy very much. My passion is travel and most recently we went to South Africa in August 2008 to visit Cape Town, Johannesburg, Sun City and finally Victoria Falls.

My daughter is in 8th grade and my son is in 5th grade. My husband is a Police Officer in Warren . I have a Masters Degree in Education from Wayne State.  My hobbies are scrapbooking, bowling, and shopping. 


 

bullet Kadie Schutt-First Grade Teacher.  This is my second year teaching in Warren Consolidated Schools and my first year teaching at Wilkerson.  I am very excited to be part of the Wilkerson staff. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Education Degree from Western Michigan University, and will begin my Master’s Degree from Saginaw Valley State University this winter.  When I am not working I enjoy spending my free time with my family and friends.  I love to read, paint, and scrapbooking.

bulletKatie Wilamowski- First Grade Teacher.  This is my third year teaching first grade and I am so happy to be in such a wonderful school.  I am a WCS alumni and I think it is the best place to be!  I graduated from Eastern Michigan University in December 2005 and I am currently working on my Master's degree from Walden University. Lat Christmas my husband and I welcomed our first son, Landen into our lives.  In my spare time I like to play with my Yorkie named Wrigley and I take photography classes when I can.
