Jan Rappaport

Hi, everyone! My name is Janet Rappaport. I've been teaching many years in the Warren Consolidated School District, mostly in kindergarten, first, and second grades.

I attended Wayne State University for my bachelor's degree and the University of Michigan for my master's degree. Both of my degrees are in Elementary Education.

I am married to Stuart, and we have one daughter, Nicole. She is an attorney in Detroit, specializing in family law.

In my free time, I enjoy traveling with my husband, visiting with friends and family, playing the piano, and attending musical theater productions. And I also love reading!

Hello, everyone! My name is Kim Opsasnick and this is my sixth year teaching. I grew up in the Warren Consolidated School District and graduated from Warren Mott. I also attended Harwood many years ago! I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Oakland University in 2005. I finished my Master's Degree through Saginaw State University in Reading last May! I am currently working on obtaining my early childhood endorsement. I feel very lucky to be here at Harwood and work with such wonderful students, staff, and dedicated parents.

In my spare time I enjoy reading, painting, traveling, and spending time with my family.

Renee Gabbara

My name is Renee Gabbara and I’m highly pleased to be teaching at Harwood this year! I grew up attending WCS and feel very fortunate to be involved in the community again. I received my Bachelor of Science in Education last year from the notable Wayne State University and plan to further my studies by starting to work towards a Master’s Degree next fall. Traveling is a great passion of mine, especially when it’s tied to something educational. I’ve had the great pleasure of studying abroad in Australia, and so, killing two birds with one stone. I fancy taking my mind into unique, fantastical places by simply reading a book. Without exception, I absolutely adore children’s books. I love spending time with my family and friends, shopping, going to concerts, running, writing and the like. I enjoy teaching at Harwood because the blending of staff, students, and parents has come together to build an atmosphere of dedication and perseverance. Naturally, I feel inspired by the staff and students.
