Rules and Procedures

Mrs. Searle – CLASSROOM RULES

1.      Come to class prepared to learn with all required materials.   Bring a pencil, notebook, textbook, folder, and agenda on a daily basis.

2.      Be in your seat and ready to work when the bell rings.  All pencils should be sharpened.

3.      Respect and be polite to everyone.  Be attentive and respectful when the teacher or someone else is speaking.  This includes substitute teachers.

4.      Listen and stay seated when someone is talking.

5.      Respect other people’s property.  Students are responsible for cleaning up after themselves, not writing on desks or defacing school property, asking permission before borrowing from someone and returning borrowed materials.

CLASSROOM PROCEDURES

  • Entering the Room:

Enter the room quietly like ladies and gentlemen.

  • Attendance:

School rules will be followed.

If there is bellwork, students will begin as soon as they enter the room.

  • Tardy Students:

The student will sit down quietly without disturbing anyone else on the way.

Students that are not in their assigned seat when the bell rings are considered tardy.

  • Leaving the Room during class:

Students are urged to take care of going to the rest room, drinks, etc. between classes.

If it is really necessary for a student to leave the room during class, they must sign out and use the class hall pass.

  • Seatwork:

Students are to work individually on seatwork unless other direction is given.

  • When seatwork is completed:

Students may do other homework or read.

  • Clean up:

During a normal class period, students need to clean up their own area prior to leaving.

  • Dismissal:

Students will remain seated until dismissed by the teacher.

Chairs should be pushed in.

Sixth hour students will be responsible for stacking chairs.

MISCELLANEOUS PROCEDURES

  • Fire, Tornado, and Lock Down Drills:

Remain quiet and listen for directions.

  • PA Announcements:

Students will remain quiet for PA announcements.

  • Eating & Drinking:

There is no eating or drinking is class.

  • Headings on all papers:

All headings should include your first and last names, date, hour, and assignment.

  • Writing Instruments:

Use only pencils.

  • Neatness and Legibility:

If I can’t read it, I can’t grade it, so make it neat and legible.  Any paper that is illegible will receive a zero.

  • Due Dates:

Credit will be given for work that is complete and turned in on time. If you have an excused absence, you have the number of days that you were excused to catch up on any assignments that you missed.  This includes tests or quizzes.

  • Make up work:

Make up work is the responsibility of the student.

  • Grading:

Notes/Bellwork/Participation/ Homework: 25%

Tests/ Quizzes : 75%

Student test grades of “D” or “E” may be retaken. It is the student’s responsibility to arrange this with the teacher in a timely fashion.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Even if no specific homework has been assigned, students should be reading over their notes or reviewing online at http://my.hrw.com/.   This means you have homework every day.
