Points of Pride

The Fillmore Elementary School Community is dedicated to creating a safe, positive learning environment to better meet the diverse, academic, emotional, and physical needs of our students.  We will strive to set forth a foundation of skills for life long learners.

About Us

Fillmore Elementary School is one of sixteen elementary schools in Warren Consolidated School District.  It is located in the City of Sterling Heights, Macomb County.  The current enrollment includes over 380 students in grades Kindergarten through fifth grade.

The school was named after Helen Fillmore, an outstanding educator in Warren Consolidated Schools.  She was an elementary school teacher who is remembered for her effectiveness as an instructor and her kindness to all.

In the tradition of Helen Fillmore, the Fillmore Staff devotes their efforts to the academic, social and emotional needs of children.  Working together with parents, they strive to provide a solid educational foundation from which Fillmore students can build a bright and successful future.  The staff is firmly committed to a dynamic educational program of equity and excellence to help all of our students prepare for the challenges of a global economy.

Fillmore's full time staff includes a principal, secretary, clerk, seventeen classroom teachers which includes two teachers in the Speech Impaired program, one resource room teacher, one media specialist, one language acquisition teacher with an aide, one Title I teacher , head custodian, and night custodian.

The part-time staff includes a physical education teacher, vocal music teacher, art teacher, foreign language teacher, school nurse, technology consultant, school social worker, school psychologist, P.O.H.I. consultant, counselor, teacher consultant,  DARE Police Officer, a cook, four latchkey caregivers, and seven lunchroom supervisors.

Accreditation

All Warren Consolidated Elementary Schools are now members of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.  An N.C.A. accredited school has the responsibility of serving the educational needs of its students as they prepare to function in a democratic society.  Each staff member must have the qualifications and skills needed to contribute to the schools implementation of its statement of philosophy and goals.  Fillmore School has been evaluated and is proud to have it's NCA Accreditation extended through the 2010-11 School Year.

Schools are also accredited by the State of Michigan according to MEAP scores.  Public schools are currently rated as non-accredited, summary accredited, or interim accredited.  This determination is based upon student performance on the MEAP test over a three year period.
