The Facilities, Property Services and Management Department includes Custodial, Maintenance, Grounds and Warehouse.
Warren Consolidated Schools Facilities and Property Services, plays a significant and instrumental role in supporting students, staff, parents, and the community by maintaining clean, safe and secure buildings along with superior sports facilities. WCS serves portions of Warren, Sterling Heights and Troy with 27 buildings in its boundaries, which cover approximately 32 square miles, 2,662,000 square feet and over 500 acres.
Custodial Services: WCS employs approximately 70 custodians. The custodial crews that work throughout the 27 buildings, that encompass the district are well trained and up to date in the safety, sanitation, and daily care of our schools and facilities. Annual In-Services, on-line classes such as Asbestos Awareness, The Right to Know, Blood-borne Pathogens and Safety Data Sheets are just a few of the requirements for the custodial staff. The custodians are the direct link which represents the facilities for each student, parent, staff and guest. They are always ready to handle activities, events and daily needs of each school.
Grounds Service: Our highly efficient Grounds Department maintain all district properties including lawns and shrubs, pesticide spraying, playground equipment, athletic facilities, district snow removal, and salting of all district properties, along with maintaining irrigation systems.
Maintenance Service: Our Master Skilled Trades Department maintenance all heating, cooling, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry and general maintenance care of all district facilities.
Warehouse Services: Responsible for transporting food for our Nutritional Services Department, district mail, bulk mail, equipment and supplies. This incorporates large building moves such as furniture, equipment and science kits.
- Lowering heating and cooling to unoccupied facilities when not in use. Whenever possible, this is done though our energy management system.
- Unplug appliances and electronics that are not in use during all school breaks, i.e., winter, spring and summer..
- Use of energy efficient lighting.
- Use of Energy Star Rating where possible on equipment and appliances.
