Administrative Office Specialist
This one year program prepares students for employment in an office by providing realistic office experiences using Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. Students receive training on computers, calculators, and transcribing machines. The course includes general office procedures, professional standards, career preparation, resumes, and techniques for successful employment strategies. This course satisfies the requirement for Integrated Technology I and II to take Business Office Externship (work experience) in the senior year.

Legal Office Specialist
This is a one-year program which covers all areas of secretarial work as well as computers and machine transcription. Students will type legal letters and documents, build a legal/medical vocabulary, research court cases, and learn to use the Microsoft Office suite. Jobs are made available to students who desire part-time work in the legal field when they are available. Students use an on-line learning system for lecture notes, exercises, tutorials and assessments with on-line help and email available. This course satisfies the requirement for Integrated Technology I and II to take Business Office Externship (work experience) in the senior year.

Medical Office Specialist***
This course prepares students for employment in a doctor's office or hospital setting. Students learn medical terminology, hospital abbreviations, basic anatomy and physiology, and the Microsoft Office suite. Students can find employment as a receptionist, health unit coordinator in hospitals, clinics, physicians' offices, and related medical fields. Students job shadow at St. John/Macomb Hospital. Students use an on-line learning system for lecture notes, exercises, tutorials and assessments with on-line help and email available.
***Juniors who successfully complete this course are also eligible to take the Health Sciences Internship in their senior year as Health Unit Coordinators. This course satisfies the requirement of Integrated Technology I and II to take Business Office Externship (work experience) in the senior year.
