1.)    Passed out “How can a microscope help us study living things?” packet.

2.)  Students had work time for 45 minutes.

3.)  Minute RICE: students read a short article about cells and answered 4 multiple choice questions about the article. (School-wide Reading Initiative)

4.)  Did a short lesson on the parts of the microscope and the proper use of it.

5.)  Told students they would have a quiz on Tuesday over the parts of the microscope and how to calculate the magnification powers.

1.)    Read Chapter 21 Section 1- did not finish reading.

2.)  Passed out 21.1 w.s. “Weathering and Soil” to anybody who needed it.  (I provided it last week on Thursday for a head start)

3.)  Passed out the “Preparing to Use a Microscope” lab: we went to the computer lab to research microscope images of various microbes that we will be looking at in a lab activity tomorrow with a real microscope.

3.)              Explained Activity 36 “Looking for Signs of Life” lab.

4.)              Students magnified images of human hair and pond water and drew sketches of both.

5.)              Activity 36 Lab is to be completed for homework.
